Attapulgite

Attapulgite is a naturally occurring mineral, is a crystalline hydrated magnesium alumina silicate with a three dimensional chain structure. The shape and sizes of its needle structure gives unique colloidal properties, especially resistance to high concentration of electrolytes, and gives high surface area and high porosity particles when thermally activated. It is used as binder in Pharma applications in Tableting Formulations For Example in the treatment of diarrhea, Lotion and Creams, Liquid Soaps and dry Cosmetics applications. Activated Attapulgite is purified native hydrated aluminium silicate essentially consisting of the clay mineral polygorskite that has been carefully heated in increase its adsorptive capacity. Colloidal Attapulgite is a prapared by specific thermal activation and particle size control.
